eBook 2 and developing ideas, finally publishing Automating Revit 2 ebook.

After publishing book 1 I saved a few things up to put in book 2. I’ve just published to Kindle and want to look at other formats too now.

Some content ideas

• One of them was the X factor & the star (asterisk)
• More advanced things like taking a bespoke issue and generalising. How to do that?
• Incorporate bubble diagrams into the process, with licensing and with code overall. But I want to think about using Draw.io instead of Bubble.us (although a bit more effort and I already have bubble diagrams)
• Failure of mapping keys and using PowerToys

Book 3- initially stuff below but I moved them to book 2.

• Bubble Notes & objects

Revise book 2 & 3 scoping

On reflection, I was splitting book 2 into 2 parts, maybe I should make the 3rd book about delivery of script and how to do it. So book 2 more advanced and book 3 is delivery, web stuff I’m still sorting through what to talk about.

So book 2 I have enough content to do, maybe even add RevitPure Bubbles.

Book 3 stand alone for delivery of information. That can be standalone, I’m thinking this could be better scoped for a general AutoHotKey book.

I’m near completion on book 2 content, still to do videos, script uploads and image resizing, working on last chapter on website.

I’m reflecting on Book1, I’ve most probably only had 2 sales and hardly any video watching for the short videos, maybe easier to do them as longer videos instead. I’ll think about that for a while. I’ve now decided that I wont do video’s, I’ll use what ones I have (Bubble diagrams) and maybe do language subtitles for them, but otherwise see if there is a demand, in which case I’ll do them.

I’m interested in trying out a translation, I have vid subtitles , Manuscript translated & Front Cover altered methods all tested, now I want to focus on the comments in the code and complete an upload of same book in different language.

I’ll leave book 2 paused at the moment and go and explore Translation publishing on Kindle. I can work away on the image resizing and prelim videos at the same time. Did 6 different languages and then got a bit bored with that and decided to finish off book 2.

Where to publish?

Maybe consider Barnes & Noble (B&N) for next publish, rather than or possibly and Amazon. The B&N make you sell for the same price or lower than on other platforms, so maybe start with a higher price on that platform and no other platform, then drop and have the same on Amazon & B&N.

I looked at IngramSpark but no royalties info plus it wont do Amazon if I’ve published once this year. This looked like another easy option but apparently 85% ebooks sold on Amazon, so not a good idea. IngramSpark sending lots of irritating emails and you can’t delete account, I am liking them less and less.

I do want to try Barnes & Noble (B&N) and KOBO too.

I don’t want to publish on one platform exclusively but on many platforms.

I want to publish my books in languages so that people who normally wouldn’t have access have an easier access to books – Maybe I can drop the price for them. Think about Khmer for this.

Book format and conversions

For ePub I need to take .docx file into google Docs then saveas an ePub. I need to test that process out.

There were a couple of alternative methods, one being Calibre, which I have used in the past. But as GSheets requires no extra program to be uploaded I think I’ll try that method first.

Udemy course to follow books? Maybe 2/3 combined as most of 2 in first course

I’m still incrementing downwards with the pricing for course 1. On reviewing that I think there is the opportunity for 2 other courses, roughly following Book 2 & 3. Maybe book2 stuff simplified, an add-on short course although most of that stuff is in the main course. Bubble Notes and stuff are extra, maybe just book 3 stuff with bubbles added- I may need to take bubbles off the main part.

Book 2 uploaded to KDP for publishing 16 May 2022

I’ve submitted book 2 for publishing but am not putting it in KDP Select as I want to put it on Barnes & Noble & Kobo too. just wanted to get a version up and running so I can start book 4 (before book 3) and start working on that. Also can take time to look at B&N setup for publishing on their platform.

A messy article because I’m thinking through what to deliver. It is bringing things into focus and it makes it more structured.

Book 3 should be developed further, I just can’t figure how to approach it. From code to website or from Website to code? I need the Book 4 concept and I think that will give me time for a strategy for Deployment book.
